Meet Your Teachers
Beth Maffei
My name is Beth Maffei. I attended local Cobb County schools for elementary, middle, and high school. I went to UGA for my freshman year of college before deciding I was too much of a Tennessee Volunteer to support UGA football! I graduated from KSU with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education in 2001 and from Ga State University with a Master's degree in Reading, Language and Literacy in 2006.
I have two wonderful stepchildren, Lauren and Matthew. Lauren recently got married and lives locally with her husband. Matthew has flown the coop and lives in the great city of Dallas, Texas. We enjoy doing things as a family and often spend the weekend on our boat at Lake Allatoona. I have two boxers, Sasha and Tebow!
I love teaching and think I have on of the best jobs out there. My goal as a teacher is to help create life long learners in all of my students. My absolute passion is reading! I want to enable your child to not only read but to create those "mental images" we have when we read. I call that my "movie in my brain". I don't encourage children to read for any other reason than because they love it!!! That is my goal...to make your child a lover of reading, writing, math and LEARNING! School should be a fun place where we can all come to learn, have fun and spend time with people we all care about. That is my hope for all of us this year...that we LOVE coming to school to LEARN!

This is my tenth year at Lewis Elementary but my 18th year in Cobb County. I have worked with general education and special education students during this time in grades K-5. I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from SUNY New Paltz in New York. I then received my Master's Degree from Georgia State University in Special Education. I live with my husband, Robert, who is a teacher at Harrison High School. I also have a third grader, Sage, here at Lewis and an 18 month old girl name Ivy. The best part of my job is when I see students with the "AHAHA" look on their face!
