Classroom Updates
Please check back every few days for up to date information about school and class happenings.
January 31st
Let's try this again...I've not posted in awhile and I apologize! You can expect 2-3 updates per week starting next week.
Please check the research question. It has been updated and will continue to be added each Monday.
Remember to check your child's FROG folder daily. There are important papers being sent home that you are not seeing if you are not checking it. Homework will be sent home 1-2 times per week so that is being missed as well.

**We are going to see Peter Pan in October at McEachern High School. Please send the permission form back this week.
**We are set up and ready to get going with Study Island. This is a great resource we have for our kids that will help them practice reading, language arts, and math skills. Your child's Study Island info is taped inside the FROG. Please visit studyisland.com with your child and have him/her begin working through the assignments. There is a test for reading and math that needs to be completed by the end of the month.

First in Math update:
We need your help in making sure we all stay on the same page with this program. First in Math is a great program that will help students build their math fact fluency and automaticity--this means how quickly they can correctly solve a problem. If you are allowing them to work on multiplication and division facts at home this is not helping them become fluent with what we really need them working on which is addition and subtraction. We request they NOT even go into multiplication/division on First in Math this year.
Headphones--If you have not sent in headphones/earbuds yet please do so next week. We use these in specials when going to computer, in the laptop lab on Fridays and in the classroom when working on IPads. Thanks!

Hi all! WOW! Everyone is doing such a great job following directions and being respectful to others. This has really started off to be a great year!
**Your child has homework each night. It is up to you to determine how this is done. Spelling words and sight words need to be practiced and reading needs to be completed. Make it work for your family!
**Sight word lists will be sent home in the next few days so check your child's FROG binder.
**FROG binders need to be checked nightly. Please remove the papers that are in the front pocket of the binder so we know you have looked over them.
**We are partnering with NCHS to collect non-perishable food items for the Daily Bread Food Pantry. We will collect items through September 8th.
We need the following items:
Canned vegetables and soup
Spaghetti boxes
Cans of spaghetti sauce
Ramen noodles
Boxes of cereal
Jars of peanut butter
Cans of tuna
Boxes of rice
Boxes of dry potatoes
Boxes of mac and cheese
Have a GREAT WEEKEND! Be sure to check out our recent photos!
August 17, 2016
We are working hard to get through all routines and procedures lessons. Everyone is really working together as a team to help our days run smoothly.
**We are in need of a copy mom! We don't usually have a lot that needs to be done but would love the help if someone is available.
**The fire safety field trip is this Friday. Remember to dress your child in shorts/comfy clothes and sneakers.
**Spelling lists will come home on Mondays. There is no required homework but your child needs to study these words in some way each night to be prepared for their assessment on Friday.
**There will be no reading logs to fill out this year. However, it is critical that your child read every night for at least 15 minutes!
**First in Math log in information is in the front of your child's FROG binder. Encourage your child to get online a few times each week and work on their fact fluency. Mya is in the lead!!!
August 8, 2016
Happy Monday everyone! Some important updates!!!!
****We are going to the Fire Safety Village on FRIDAY, AUGUST 19th not Thursday the 18th. Sorry about the confusion. A new permission slip will be coming home soon.
***Spelling began this week! Your child brought home their very first spelling list today! We don't give specific homework for this but they will be tested over their words on Friday so make sure to practice them in some way each night this week. A new list will be sent home each Monday unless we determine more time needs to be spent on learning the spelling patterns for that week. Spelling lists can be found in your child's FROG. Let us know if you have any questions.
***Open House is this Thursday! You will begin in the cafeteria at 6:30 and then go to classrooms. We hope to see you there!

I have one word to describe our first 3 days...WOW! We have had so much fun getting to know each other. Everyone is working so hard and getting along well. It has been a fantastic start to our school year! Ask your child about our Class Money, clip chart and behavior pom poms!
A few reminders:
*Please send in your child's supplies by this Friday. The binders and pencil box are especially important. One will be used for writing and one will be used as your child's daily take home folder.
*Our first field trip will be on August 18th to the Fire Safety Village in Marietta. Forms were sent home with your child today. There are THREE forms that need to be sent back. Please send these back as soon as possible so we can get lunch counts turned in. We will NOT need chaperones for this field trip.
**See below for past reminders you may have missed.
July 30, 2016
It was so nice to meet everyone at Sneak a Peek! We are going to have a great year and we are excited to get started.
A few quick things:
**Please send a healthy snack to school with your child each day.
**We encourage your child to bring a reusable water bottle to school each day. This cuts down on trips to the water fountain and the risk of exposing your child to germs.
**We have children with nut and chocolate allergies. In an effort to be polite and sympathetic to others we will be a nut free classroom this year! Also, when bringing treats for the classroom please remember to bring nut and chocolate free items. A great idea for birthday treats is individual ice cream cups--make sure they are nut free and vanilla! I'm sure we all want to keep everyone's child safe!
**Please send in your child's supplies as soon as possible. We will have a binder that will go home with each child each day. These will most likely begin going home on Wednesday. Until then please use the Cobb County first day folder that will be sent home on Monday.
**Please put a change of clothes in a ziplock bag and keep it in your child's back pack. While students are obviously out of the pull up stage, accidents do sometimes happen. Also, students often spill milk or food on their clothes at lunch and a nice clean shirt or pair of pants is always a good thing to have on hand. We no longer have a "clothes closet" so if your child has a spare outfit it will keep you from having to come get them in the event of a spill or accident. THANKS!
**Visitors:
If you will be visiting the school for any reason you must sign in to the office and wear your visitor badge. In order to ensure a safe learning environment, if you do not have on a visitor badge, you will be asked to return to the office to sign in. This is not meant to offend or irritate but is to help protect all the students, staff and other visitors in our school building.
**Attendance:
If your child is going to be absent or tardy to school please email Mrs.. Maffei and let her know as soon as you know. We are working hard to reduce absences and tardies this year. If your child needs to go to the doctor please make those appointments for after school or after 11:15 when possible.
Thanks! As always let us know if you have any questions.
